Description
Many countries in the world devote lots of resources and manpower in ALS training courses. But, many researches showed that the certified health care providers still have poor quality in processing resuscitation. And the international ALS training course, due to the language barrier, even got worse. Our project is a three-year program, the goals for our project are: 1.Improve the quality of the international ALS training courses, 2. Setting the good assessment tools for international ALS training courses, 3.Doing the cost-effectiveness analysis in international ALS training programs, 4.Comparing the passing rates and knowledge retention for the three ALS training courses with the different teaching methods. In the first year we will focused on teaching ACLS: 1. Invite the Mongolian cardiologists for translating the AHA slides into Mongolian/English language 2. By using the PowerCam, making teaching films in English, then, translating the film into Mongolian language for teaching. 3. In the first ACLS course, we will teach by the traditional way by using the bi-lingual AHA slides. And in the second ACLS course, we will teach by teaching films. 4. All the students will be recognized by a random number and separated into two groups. We will make sure all the factors are equal in the two groups by statistics. 5. The Taiwanese instructors will observe the local instructors teaching the ALS course. Taiwanese instructors jump out and explain only if the local instructors or students got any problems. 6. At last, we will compare the passing scores in the oral and written tests in the two courses. In the second and third year, we will focused on teachingAPLS and ATLS. And, in order to observe the knowledge retention in ACLS course, in the third year, we will also invite all the first-year ACLS students come back for re-certification course. We will use half-day training course with oral and written tests for evaluating the knowledge retention and skill retention. And, in order to observe the knowledge retention in APLS course, in the third year, we will also invite all the second-year APLS students come back for re-certification course. We will use half-day training course with oral and written tests for evaluating the knowledge retention and skill retention. At last, we will do the cost-effectiveness analysis through the two teaching methods in the three ALS training courses. By now, we have no evidence about the video assisted teaching in ALS training courses. Through our project, we will know the cost and effectiveness in the international training courses.
