Description
The medical professionalism is long regarded as the definition and expectation to good doctoring. It becomes a global issue not only to study medical professionalism, but also to measure, and further, to transfer it to medical students. To successful facilitate medical professionalism in Taiwan society; we propose an education intervention to enhance empathy and compassion to model good medical professionalism. Therefore, we plan to devise instrument based on the needs and cultural context among countries. Focus group and literature review will guide the revision of instrument.We also utilize 360 degree to evaluate the observed components of medical professionalism in order to validate the instrument we devise.We plan to survey medical students by self-reported questionnaires, and 360 degree evaluation from evaluators, including peers, supervisors, patients, and nurses.We also initiate curriculum to foster medical professionalism by means of role modeling.We will evaluate the effectiveness of this program at the end of research. Therefore, the aims of this research include: 1.Revise medical professionalism instrument. 2.Survey on pre-medical students on medical professionalism 3.Conduct 360 degree evaluation on medical students who start out their internship. 4.Follow-up focus group interview to those students who took the medical professionalism courses. 5.Initiate curriculum to foster medical professionalism.
