越來越多研究指出腸道代謝產物-TMAO為導致心血管疾病的重要危險因子,且與心衰竭與心房顫動發生有關。人體膽鹼(choline)/TMAO的累積與紅肉、海鮮攝取過多有關,並使腸道菌相失衡,增加身體發炎反應與引起心律不整。反之,膳食纖維改善腸道菌相且產生短鏈脂肪酸,短鏈脂肪酸/ G蛋白偶聯受體訊息路徑則會改善腸黏膜屏蔽功能、抑制發炎反應,因而保護心臟功能。因此,我們的研究計畫探討膳食纖維/短鏈脂肪酸是否可改善choline/TMAO對於心腸軸(Heart-gut axis)影響,並減少心房心律不整風險,期許可作為飲食參考,達到預防醫學效果。
