The rapid growth of the Taiwan aging population and, correlatively, of the associated aged-related diseases is causing great burden on local society as well as creating major health expenses on governments. The development of biomaterial and tissue engineering technologies and the translational research applications of stem cells to treat degenerative diseases has become one major research direction. This program will use the resources of the research center of stem cells, combined with that of the biomaterials, blood processing, and other related areas of research. The target is to contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies, achieve optimal personal health and promote wellbeing for human health using applied translational research and regenerative medicine research. The program will benefit from the clinical resources provided by the Taipei Medical University hospital system comprised of Taipei Medical University Hospital, Wanfang Hospital, and Shuang Ho hospital. The value of the research conducted, from basic discovery to clinical applications, will involve enhanced cooperation between industry and academy. Regular interactions between hospitals and research institutions will be a tool to optimize research resources and benefit from synergistic experiences. The program is committed to benefit from basic research findings in support of clinical medicine, promoting the combination of academic research and industrial development.Fingerprint
